Land Vs. Sea: Nature

I always get asked “What do you like and dislike about being at sea?” Obviously there are positives and negatives to both. So I figured I’d do some head to head comparisons. One thing that I’ve found being at sea is that it’s quite a bit easier to ‘in touch’ with nature.

When you’re on land working 9-5 all week long, you tend to take for granted the beauty around you. Distractions like DVR, Wifi, and cell phones prevent us from truly taking a second to breathe and enjoy what’s in front of us.

A few times a week I like to grab a coffee and run out onto the deck and catch the sunset. Yes, you can see the sunset on land. But at sea it just seems more accessible for some reason. To see the sunset back home I’d have to find time in between jobs to drive somewhere and take it in. But after a long day of work it wasn’t on my priority list. On the ship it seems to be less of a hassle.

These photos were taken by me in various ports (St. Thomas, San Juan, Cozumel, Belize, at sea). I honestly can’t remember which ones were where, sorry!
